Here in my Car

The last few days were by far the most interesting I’ve had in a while. On Friday, the Elantra was towed because of the snow storm. After having spent an inordinate amount of time retrieving the vehicle I started on my way to work. By this time the snow had become rain so I thought that it would be relatively smooth sailing to work. That belief was quickly shattered. After getting about two exits up the highway the rain become snow. The snow flakes progressively grew larger until they were probably half an inch or so across. It snowed with such feverance that it was complete white-out. I figure that visibility had dropped to about 100 or so feet. Needless to say I didn’t make it into work on Friday.

On Monday, while I was driving back from work the front right tire on the Elantra went flat. So here I am on the shoulder of a major highway at 6:30 in the evening in New England in December. A full size spare was kept in the trunk of the Elantra, but unfortunately the tire had been in the trunk for a very long time. By the time I got around to needing it the tire had gone flat. I took the tire off and put the donut on and it too had gone flat because it had sat in the trunk of the car for last seven years completely untouched. Luckily the donut was in good enough shape to get me to a gas station where I could fill it. I later on replaced the donut with the full size spare after I had put air in it.

All in all it was a fun night (in a strictly rhetorical sense). The Elantra will be going back to the Beige on Wednesday since I have procured myself another car.
